Everyone should be paying attention to the Ellen Pao case. I don’t know any of the principal players, but I’ve met enough people in the industry that I have no trouble believing the claim that the culture is unfriendly to women. One of my favorite bits out of this saga is the apparent belief that women either don’t think right about business or lack the skills to make it. Let’s see, the correct, “male” way of thinking about and doing business gave us the Great Depression, the collapse of Chrysler and General Motors and other assorted bailouts, the defense industry scandals, Enron and all the other accounting scandals and, most recently, the 2008 meltdown. In my judgment, this way of thinking about business is the last thing I’d want to see more of!
